Proof positive that citizens from Devon are behind the rest of us

I do enjoy a silly bit of history. It seems that after nearly 30 years, a small town in Devon (Torbay) will be getting to see ’s: The Life of Brian for the very time on the big screen. In 1979 The Life of Brian was given a 15 movie rating (nobody under the age of 15 could see it). For some pompous reason, Torbay council insisted that the rating be increased to 18. Never the types to submit, The Life of Brian distribution team simply didn’t about a little town not wanting to screen their film and refused to change the rating.

Well it seems that the public has overthrown the council recently (albeit 30 years late) and have encouraged them to lift the ban on this iconic movie which is now to be shown at the English Riviera International Festival. About bleeding time really!
