What is Eagle Eye? Should we have been paying attention?

Submitted by Richard Mann on September 19, 2008 – 12:01 pmNo Comment

What is Eagle Eye? Why have I completely ignored it’s inevitable release into the theaters? Well it is mainly due to the fact that the title just doesn’t exactly light my fire. Am I being too judgemental? I would think that a great deal of people judge movies on their names alone. So admittedly I ignored all trailers, images, stills and news on the production. Perhaps then I will have to admit my extreme level of wrongness for doing so.

Don’t get me wrong, I liked Shia LaBeouf Transformers (despite having a completely unpronounceable and un-spellable name). Unfortunately I was not as happy with his performance in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (he just shouldn’t have been there) and I never did get to see Disturbia. So my opinions of Mr LaBeouf are based on one movie. This is not enough as even the most awful of performers can look good and act well in one film (until you realise they are a one-trick-pony) – see Martin Lawrence in Bad Boys.

Nevertheless when you take a look at the trailer it doesn’t look that bad (maybe). Although it is another movie that Steven Spielberg has his name on (as Executive Producer) and didn’t direct (I’m getting sick of him doing that). I’ll admit though Eagle Eye feels very much like Enemy of the State , let’s hope it takes us down a more exciting road than that film did.

Take a look at the trailer and our gallery to get you in the mood for its upcoming release (26th September for U.S and 17th October for the U.K.)
