After Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, I thought you’d have to drug me into seeing another cybernetic organism movie. Somehow Jonathan Mostow (the director) managed to systematically destroy everything that was great about the first two. John Connor became a wimp, his love interest was as desirable as a vindaloo straight after fine dining, the terminatrix was more sexy than scary. Somehow I imagine it would have been more interesting to have John Connor chasing after her…Perhaps then I would have enjoyed it. For everything that was bad about Rise of the Machines, the ending was good. This is where Terminator 3 leaves and Termanator 4 (aka Terminator: Salvation) takes over.

The next incarnation is being directed by a poorly named individual named McG. Yes that’s right. The chap responsible for both Charlie’s Angels movies is at the helm. Again, this sent some awful vibes up my leg (old war wound) and I had given up on ever seeing any Terminator movie again.

Recently though, something interesting happened. The teaser trailer was released onto the web and it look okay. In fact better than that, it looked good. Now don’t get me wrong, I know that trailers can sometimes be deceptive, but I’m actually starting to hold out hope for this one (I should have learned before really). If you haven’t watched the teaser yet, then I suggest you do. Take a look at our recently arrested and released Christian Bale in a photograph depicting him as John Connor and tell me this looks as dumb as T3…..because it doesn’t……yet!

UPDATE: Another Terminator Salvation pic (and poster) has surfaced. This one shows Christian Bale’s John Connor and Sam Worthington’s Marcus Wright face to face. The poster, however just looks very generic.

The Synopsis is thus:

Set in post-apocalyptic 2018, John Connor (Bale) is the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.
