Donnie Darko Sequel starring Briana Evigan and Elizabeth Berkley

Submitted by Richard Mann on May 30, 2008 – 5:45 amNo Comment

S. Darko (the upcoming sequel to the excellent Donnie Darko) is to star Briana Evigan and Elizabeth Berkley (according to Hollywood Reporter). Who are these people you may be asking? Well, Briana is known by most who the perpetually wet dancer from Step Up 2:The Streets and Berkley is known for her roles in Saved By the Bell (when she was much younger) and Showgirls. I think we can see the tone of Samantha Darko (due to be released in 2009) already.

The Synopsis is thus: “The story picks up seven years after the first film when little sister Samantha Darko and her best friend Corey are now 18 and on a roadtrip to Los Angeles when they are plagued by bizarre visions”

They lost me when they mentioned the word “roadtrip”. Chris Fisher is directing (the original director, Richard Kelly wants nothing to do with it) and is known by someone, I assume. I certainly haven’t heard of him! Either way, this is bad bad news for the sequel that shouldn’t be made. Listen to the fans Hollywood! Don’t do it! We don’t want to see a moist girl from a girl’s movie, a woman who’s claim to fame consists of the awful “Showgirls” and a woman, who fans of the original know her as an eleven year old girl! This is wrong squared! Stop now before we really start taking the piss!
