A workprint (unfinished effects) version of the film has been made available to the ever persistent P2P community.
Now two outcomes are possible from this:

  1. People will see the unfinished movie and be so impressed by what they saw they will feel the urge to leap into the cinema to appreciate the real experience
  2. Disappointment will occur and Box-Office receipts will be hindered.

Of course, Hollywood will have you believe that this will hinder sales. However I am not so sure. I (like many people who have spoken with me) have no intention of seeing the film (or at least wanting to). We may just find out that this leak may just save Wolverine from being shelved quickly.

I would urge you all though to wait for the release and if you do know someone who has watched the Workprint, then I suggest you ask their opinion of it. If they thought it was great then head on down to your cinema. After all it is only a month away from release! If they thought it was bad then you have saved some cash after all (if you trust their pirating opinion).

With this in mind then, according to The Hollywood Reporter Disney’s classic film Beauty and the Beast is going 3D (for release in 2010).

For a lifelong fan of the film I am truly very happy for it to return to the cinemas once again (in any format). Slashfilm has been lucky enough to see the first scene at ShoWest and were impressed by the whole experience.

The question remains though, with Beauty and the Beast and Toy Story getting the full 3D treatment, what films would you like to see brought out of the screen in front of your eyes? The Little Mermaid? The Lion King? Aladdin?

High School Musical’s Zac Efron is no longer attached to the Footloose remake. Personally I think they should leave the original well alone.

However if they have to remake every film from my childhood I would imagine that Zac Efron would have fit the bill as a Kevin Bacon Replacement (he would have needed roughing up first though).

Whether he left or was thrown out still is unclear though but does anyone really care anyway? Paramount is refusing to comment either way.

I imagine that the only person who is really bothered that Efron isn’t in Footloose will be my daughter (and I have no intention of telling her because I couldn’t cope with the tears).

    According to his official site he claims that he had hoped for a year off from the Transformers franchise and yet no statement has come out (from the studios) to confirm this change of date. He had hoped that Transformers 3 would be released in July of 2012, giving him some much needed rest!

    Does this mean Michael Bay might get to miss out playing with big robots for a third time? I doubt it!

    Frank Welker is the original voice of Megatron and Soundwave from the cartoons and was replaced by Hugo Weaving in the 2007 film (Agent Smith from The Matrix) as the voice of the Decepticon leader.

    This news has pleased the Transformers community greatly as the loss of Welker’s voice in the original was always a constant criticism.

    It is good to hear that Michael Bay (the director) is able to listen to what the fanbase wants and try to give it to them.

Instead of turning this site into a gossip central  I have only ever included statements from his official blog.

    With this in mind then, Michael Bay’s official site has confirmed that Megatron will be making a return (albeit a brief one) in the second Transformers movie. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will only show the evil Decepticon leader as he was before the events of the original Transformers.

    The site states:

    Okay cat is out of the bag. Megatron is back —- but you will only get to see him from the long lost past. We go way back in time as this movie explains the mythology of the Primes. He is not a tank like everyone suggests, but an alien vehicle. But sadly he does not has much screen time.

    The High School Musical series can only be described as a phenomenon. However for some reason it seems that it is going back to its television roots with a completely new cast (since the original cast all seem to be in their mid-twenties or thereabouts).

    Perhaps they are planning to continually bash these movies out every couple of years (much like the Saw series) in attempt to cash in. Somehow though, you get the feeling that by not releasing it in cinemas, a great deal of faith has been lost along the way by the studio. Stay tuned for some more depressing news on HSM 4

Darko (the inevitably bad Donnie Darko sequel) will be going straight to DVD. Has some studio exec watched it, realised their very silly mistake and fobbed it off on the DVD market? Probably.

    Released on April 28th it stars Daveigh Chase (the original actress playing Samantha Darko), Briana Evigan and Elizabeth Berkley.

    The trailer for it will be released in the New York Comic Con (6th to the 8th of February). Rest assured we will share it with you once obtained (so we can show we were right….and it was crap).
